New staff! The Youth Programs team is delighted to announce that Crystal Hershey has agreed to serve as the Children and Families Program Assistant. While Crystal is a new addition to our team, she is a familiar face in youth programs and the PYM community.
Crystal is a member of Mount Holly Meeting, and a civil engineer with Catania Engineering Associates, a civil engineering firm in Delaware County. Crystal earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Widener University. Since her own youth, Crystal has worked with children in many Quaker settings: as a camp counselor at Haddonfield Friends School, a volunteer with the Friends General Conference (FGC) annual Gathering’s Children’s Program, a First Day School teacher at Mount Holly Meeting, and a planner and leader of the Tri-Quarter Gathering of Friends Children’s Program. She also volunteered with PYM Children’s Sessions at many Annual Sessions.
Crystal describes herself as a caring person with a positive spirit who loves working with children because of their energy and excitement, and she looks forward to a new opportunity to be a positive role model in the lives of PYM kids. Her Youth Programs colleagues are delighted to welcome her and we look forward to introducing Families to Crystal at the upcoming Winter Family Overnight, January 11-12!
An invitation! With the departure of Colleen Hayes after two years of joyful service to the Middle School Friends program, we are seeking to fill the position of Middle School Friends Program Assistant. The Middle School Friends Program Assistant aids the Middle School Friends Program Facilitator in creating space for experiencing the movement of Spirit within and among the community of 6-8th graders. The Assistant helps to steward a sense of community, safety, and meaningful relationships among the middle school age Quakers and their integration into the life of the wider Yearly meeting. This a part-time position (up to 260 hours per year) that requires working events on weekends and four overnight gatherings a year. If you know someone who would be wonderful in this role, please share with them the link to more information on the website!
