We are over the moon excited for T.J. Jourian to join Philadelphia Yearly Meeting staff as Events & Resources Coordinator in December 2019. T.J. will be helping us ensure events go off without a hitch, including Continuing and Annual Sessions. He will also help compile and curate resources that support monthly meetings and other local Quaker communities in their religious education, outreach, equity & inclusion, and social justice witness. Below we include his bio:
T.J. is a newish-to-Philadelphia transplant from Lebanon and Cyprus, via Michigan, Chicago, Nashville, and Vermont, and a former student affairs practitioner and higher education faculty member. He is inspired and motivated by intersectional solidarity and liberation movements and movement organizers. As a social justice and equity consultant, educator, and advocate, he has worked with hundreds of institutions and organizations across Turtle Island. T.J. received his MA in Student Affairs Administration at Michigan State University and his PhD in Higher Education at Loyola University Chicago. His scholarship centers queer and trans people of color in achieving the democratic and liberatory potentials of higher education, and he is the proud papa of Bella, the prettiest orange tabby you will ever meet.
