With great thanks to Alix Vallery and Elizabeth Croce, Youth Program staff for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, and of course our meeting families, we had children for the first time since April 2021 at Western Quarterly meeting’s recent gathering!
Alix and Elizabeth brought great energy and flexibility to planning and adapting programs for the joint gathering of Western and Concord Quarters. Our program schedule started at 8:30 AM with a few youngsters, and grew to a dozen youth aged 2-12 during worship and religious education. Alix and Elizabeth created a welcoming and safe space and the children, some who knew each other, but most came from different meetings and three were visiting from Washington state, created art, shared reflections on a story and in other discussions, and played together quite happily. There was a lot to do pulling two quarters together for shared worship and programs, set up for hybrid business sessions and programs, and the presence and service of Elizabeth and Alix with their ministry to our younger friends added jubilation to the day!
It was a great resource to be able to turn to PYM and the Youth Programs staff who are ready to support the Quarters providing a program for our youngest Friends.
Invite Youth Programs staff to bring a program to your meeting or Quarter!
