Have you ever been part of a project that has different parts working together? Like building something, gardening with others, planning an event? Kairos on the Mountain
May 15-22, 2024
Individual rooms: $1,400
Shared room: $1,100This cost includes all lodging, meals, and activities. Each participant is responsible for booking their travel to and from San Jose, Costa Rica, to arrive by 3pm at Juan Santamaria International Airport.
This year, Francisco Burgos will lead a pilgrimage to Monteverde, Costa Rica. As we explore nature, accompany one another, and create space for practices that nurture our spiritual journey, participants will be invited to embrace daily life with simplicity, gratitude, hope, and a deep sense of connection.
Kairos on the Mountain is an invitation to pause, reflect on your personal and communal spiritual path, and encounter the divine in nature while walking with others and experiencing the living dynamic between community and solitude.
Participants will learn about the history of the Quaker community in Monteverde as they explore the beauty of the cloud forest. The pilgrimage will create a unique space for spiritual growth by combining key practices from Quaker and other faith traditions, and provide the opportunity to engage in contemplative praying of the Scriptures and experience the deep practice of worship sharing. This kairos pilgrimage is rooted in meeting for worship, worship sharing, lectio divina (divine reading), silence, community, and celebration.
This spiritual experiment will include two 90-minute online sessions prior to the trip to Monteverde to support our preparation for this journey.

YAF At-Home Spring Retreat 2020: In Light Together, Apart Week 5
This series titled, “In Light Together, Apart” shares artwork of the attenders from the Young Adult Friend (YAF) retreat on May 15-16, 2020. The idea behind the retreat was to collaboratively create something that speaks to where young adult friends were at that time. The themes that emerged were: time, place, people, loss, change, searching, and reflection. The stories and art shared in this series reflect the feelings and opinions of the people who made them. YAF’s have been hosting weekly YAF worship services, and this week it will be on Sunday the 28th.
This week we feature art by Jen Schrandt of Haddonfield Monthly Meeting and Meg Rose of Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. Meg also serves PYM as our YAF Coordinator. This week’s story comes from Naomi Madaras.
