A Minute of Support from the Little Egg Harbor Monthly Meeting
On 2/16/25, the Little Egg Harbor Monthly Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business found unwavering agreement to support the actions of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (PYM) in pursuing litigation against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for rescinding ICE enforcement in places of worship. In gratitude we thank Democracy Forward for their pro bono services as related to this legal action. In appreciation we acknowledge the dedicated work and tireless faith that has led PYM to pursue this litigation. These proceedings support all Quakers with respect to religious freedom, as well as, the foundation of Quakerism that acknowledges the Light’s existence within all people. Furthermore, this litigation protects the foundation of actionable Quaker testimonies outlined by the acronym: “S.P.I.C.E.S. “which translates to: Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality and Stewardship. We affirm that PYM has acted on our behalf, and we are grateful for the swift discernment and lucidity that PYM found to take legal action. This IS faith in action. We share this minute to express our unity with PYM and all the other meetings that have joined in the litigation as we hold you in the Light.
