Friends Community Drum Circle
Come on out for the first Friends Community Drum Circle of the year!
Join drum circle facilitator Tim Simmons on Saturday, January 18th, from 7-9 PM at Old Haverford Monthly Meeting – 235 E. Eagle Road, in Havertown.
Some drums will be provided, but feel free to bring your own as well. Pots and pans make great drums!
Families are welcome, and all experience levels will be honored.
Don’t play drums? No problem! Bring your guitars, flutes, horns or any other instruments and join the beat. We can all jam together!
Hope to see you there!
Family Devotionals for the Advent Season
Each Sunday we’ll gather together, light a candle, and walk the journey to Bethlehem sharing part of the Godly Play Nativity story (adapted for Friends), alongside reading and wondering about a picture book focused on that week’s Advent theme:
Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.
7:00-7:30 PM EST on December 1, 8, 15, 22
Register to receive the Zoom link and join us for any — or all! — of the four programs for children and their families.

Friends Fall Festival, Downingtown Quakers
For almost 50 years, this fair has been a signature event. Homemade food, crafters, a quality indoor attic sale, children’s activities, live music, re-enactment of a 19th century Quaker wedding. This year’s theme is Backyard Garden. There will be a book-signing by a nationally known horticulturist, a Bird Booth with an Audubon Society representative and birdhouses, and an expert on digital bird-watching tools. Restoring Our Roots will provide tours of local nut trees. The day will close with a sing along of familiar hymns. Downingtown Friends contribute 60% of net proceeds to charities.

Winter Youth Programs: City & Camp!
PYM Youth Programs have been busy connecting in-person! Two recent programs included a trip to Washington DC for older youth and a Family Overnight for children and families.
The weekend of January 27-29, ten Young Friends (high school) and Middle School Friends from three local meetings traveled to Washington DC with Friendly Presences (adult volunteer chaperones) and Youth Program staff to spend the weekend building friendships, learning more about African American history, and reflecting on how to be agents of change in our world. The group stayed at Friends Place on Capitol Hill, a Quaker learning center and guesthouse. The trip was conceived by the youth from Lancaster Monthly Meeting, who wanted to visit DC and meet other Quaker youth. They collaborated with staff from the yearly meeting Youth Program to organize the itinerary, plan programming, and invite other youth from around the Yearly Meeting.
