Carried forward by Salem Quarter Worship and Ministry for Salem Quarter discernment, members of dual Salem Quarter committees (Worship & Ministry and Indian Affairs) sought approval from Salem Quarterly Meeting for the follow minute:
Minute of Support for Salem Quarterly Meeting Land Acknowledgments
Aligning with the Religious Society of Friends’ testimonies and complimentary to instilling a “diverse, inclusive, and equitable” mindset, Salem Quarter Friends find that honouring native territory with land acknowledgments is constructive in developing awareness, building relations, and atoning to Indigenous Nations and Peoples sovereignty in relationship with their ancient homeland. Therefore, each Salem Quarterly Meeting for Worship will open with vocal ministry of a Lenape land acknowledgment.
