Scattergood Friends School, owned and operated by Iowa Yearly Meeting (Conservative), has developed a Quaker Scholarship for 9th-11th graders that covers 75% of room, board, and tuition.
It’s designed for young Friends who are active in their monthly or yearly meeting and would like to continue learning in a community like they’ve experienced growing up among Friends.
Scattergood is a progressive, college prep high school with a close-knit student community. Its campus-wide shared-work program incorporates Scattergood Farm, which provides sustainably grown farm-to-table meals for the school. Scattergood’s 126 acre campus includes the farm, a restored prairie and pond, all of which provide living laboratories for academic exploration.
Here’s a reminiscence from a recent alum.
Eligibility criteria for 9-11th applicants: Applicants should participate in their Monthly or Yearly Meeting youth programs, be in solid academic standing, and demonstrate a commitment to Quaker values.
Due date: Scholarship submissions, along with the scholarship applicant’s complete application for admission, are due by June 1.
