Nurture the nurturers!
Recently Ministry and Care Committee found joy and fulfillment! Here’s how:
- We read all 60 State of the Meeting Reports – by Quarter!
This is a current or upcoming project or interesting thing the committee is working on:
- Teaching meetings how to use a tool we developed, Trust Circles, to enhance communication and understanding among meeting members
People who participate in this committee can learn and grow in this way:
- Learn about the dynamic nature of our meetings
- Help to create connections amongst meetings
This committee functions at its best when there are people serving on it who have these skills or experiences:
- Pastoral care
- Conflict resolution
- Quaker process
- Developing programs and resources
The realistic time commitment of members of this committee includes:
- Attend and actively participate in monthly committee meetings on zoom
- Volunteer as led to work on committee projects
- Read the State of the Meeting reports
Membership:
- Members of committees are appointed by the council they serve. Ministry & Care Committee is under Quaker Life Council
- Ideally the committee has 10-15 members; the committee currently has 12.
With Divine assistance, the Ministry & Care Committee aids the Quaker Life Council in stewarding issues related to pastoral care, worship, ministry, and other issues related to the care of populations over the age of 35. The Ministry & Care Committee is focused on the spiritual and emotional wellness of monthly and quarterly meeting communities within PYM as well as support of meeting communities in the care of specific populations of Friends not otherwise assigned a committee.
If you would like to contact the committee directly, email its clerk, Jean-Marie Prestwidge Barch, at ministryandcare@pym.org.
