The Communications department at PYM is growing! Please join us in welcoming Samantha Slade, Director of Communications (pictured left), and Tiffanie McKinnon, Senior Content Manager (pictured right), to our team. With the addition of these seasoned professionals, we will increase outreach and visibility for PYMs community of meetings and annual sessions. Compelling storytelling strengthens our appeals, outreach and events, which grows all aspects of the health of our organization.
On January 17th, PYM welcomed Samantha Slade as the Director of Communications. A dedicated nonprofit professional, Samantha brings over fifteen years’ experience working on social issues such as education, gun control, food justice, and health care. Samantha believes telling the story of the yearly meeting advances the work and mission of the Quaker community while strengthening relationships with both the local community and the world. Through creative visuals and written content, she will help tell our story.
Samantha is well-versed in all aspects of communications, including branding, messaging, visual design, and web development. She is experienced in hands-on execution of communications projects, leading project direction and visioning strategic plans. For a decade, she ran her own small communications business, focusing on organizations dedicated to the social good. An empathic leader, she is grounded in Buddhist practice and brings the lens of the 8-fold path to all her interactions with other people. When not at work, you can find her walking in the Wissahickon with her corgi, listening to LPs with her daughter, or working in her painting studio.
Tiffanie McKinnon joined the PYM Communications team on March 27th as Senior Content Manager. Working as a PR and Communications strategist for over two decades, writing and compelling storytelling is Tiffanie’s passion which she has turned into a successful career. Tiffanie has worked closely with various nonprofits, B2B, B2C and Fortune 500 companies in all aspects of communications including brand amplification, social media, and thought leadership. As resident storyteller, she will work collaboratively with program staff and meeting members as a key liaison to identify compelling stories to share with the greater PYM Quaker community as well as local and national media partners.
Raised non-denominational Christian, she is passionate about empathy, social justice/responsibility and equality. Tiffanie is committed to including diverse voices at the table in every community she works with. When Tiffanie isn’t busy storytelling, you may find her acting as chauffeur for her son’s various sporting commitments, looking for a dog to pet or traveling to dance conferences.
We encourage you to reach out and welcome our newest team members!
