Third Haven Meeting is moving rapidly (for Quakers) to adjust to our new reality. We held our first Zoom Meeting for Worship this past Sunday. We divided up our directory alphabetically into 6 groups as this is the number of clerks we knew had experience with and access to Zoom accounts. We all felt that starting with smaller groups could be less intimidating to first time users. We even had two young Friends from London join us. We haven’t seen those Friends in such a long while it felt great to catch up.
We are happy to report the worship went quite well. Groups ranged from 3-10 participants. Virtual meetings seem a bit awkward to all of us at first but by the end of our time together, we felt so glad to see and talk among ourselves, that Friends felt inspired to keep on doing it. Our Wednesday night meeting for worship went well too.
Our Pastoral Care Committee is working hard to stay in touch with our Friends and reach out to those who may have needs. First Day School enjoyed the links and the classes and we seem to be keeping up with our families.
As we move through these next weeks of figuring out how to stay connected and safe at the same time, we hope others can tell us if they have Zoom accounts for their Meetings. We wonder what plan was chosen and if the plan enables multiple hosts. PYM is generous with it’s account, but we’re also investigating plans others might be using now.
