Middle School Friends had a wonderful time at Lancaster Friends Meeting during their Winter Gathering, January 31 to February 2. We were super excited to see new and returning participants come together as a community.
Over the course of the weekend, we played lots of games, decorated (and ate!) cupcakes, hung out with our unicorn Youth Programs mascot Frank the 3rd (pictured here), and took advantage of the HUGE slide in the backyard of the meeting. Another highlight of the weekend was when gifted facilitator Tara Rubinstein led us in a workshop about sexuality and gender. We learned about the spectrum of gender and sexuality identities using the “Gender Unicorn” diagram, and created our own personal identity flags and proudly display them in a celebration of inclusion. MSF weekends always include worship sharing and youth-led meeting for business, and this was no exception.
It was a wonderful weekend, and we are grateful to Lancaster Meeting for hosting MSF! We hope to see all Middle School Friends at the next gathering at Spring Continuing Sessions on Saturday, March 28th at Westtown School.
