When the Rain Returns is the product of a Quaker Working Party that includes British, Canadian, Palestinian, South African, and U.S. Quakers and Jewish allies of AFSC. The book recounts meetings with Israelis, Palestinians, and others during a study tour to the region in June 2002. Many of the group’s interlocutors have been important Quaker contacts in the region for decades. The conversations related in the book give a first-hand sense of the experiences that have shaped Quaker work in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict over the years.
Chapters on non-violent action and the relative merits of a two-state or one-state solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict carry the conversation into new territory.
