Welcome! We are currently experiencing the pandemic and have been away from Friends center. Volunteers are again coming in to work. Call or email, and expect to have your message returned within a week or two.
Book Lists
Lists of books have been created over the years. Let us know what list you need and we will provide it. Email libraryassistant@pym.org or call 215-241-7220
Book Exhibits
Meetings have requested boxes of books for extended periods of time, on any subject needed. Meetings may need books for a reading group or a religious education exercise. Volunteers work with the Meeting to pull it together and to arrange pickup from Friends Center or shipping – or sometimes from a Yearly Meeting event. All must be arranged clearly before books are sent.
Audiovisuals, DVD’s, CD’s And Audio Cassettes
There are over 200 cassettes and CD’s, and over 150 videos, DVD’s, slide shows and films available. You can schedule to have videos sent to you for scheduled showings at your meeting for up to a year ahead.
Library Catalog
You can order items directly from the catalog records via e-mail to the volunteer librarians, libraryassistant@pym.org.
Bibliographies
In addition to the book lists available online, you may request custom lists of books on other subjects.
Quaker Librarians
If you are trying to bring the ministry of books to your meeting, we want to hear from you! We are updating our records and organizing new ideas for being in network with you.
LibraryThing
An informal database on the Internet in which Monthly Meetings can list the books in their libraries. For more information visit www.librarything.com.
Interest in thinking about your Meeting Library these days?
Volunteers have a mix of experience with libraries and can be available for in-depth consultation visits and/or conferences to consider the needs of Meeting libraries.
Visits To PYM Library
In the period of covid, visiting is not possible. In the future, consider scheduling a committee meeting here to explore the library resources together – whether library, religious ed or perhaps a concern. You will need to schedule an appointment to open the library for your group. When we have regular hours to post, your drop-in presence is always welcome.
Reference Questions
The best way to have volunteers help with a question is to email libraryassistant@pym.org. Or go to the facebook page and leave it there!
