At Annual Sessions, Terri Whiteford read this minute of thanks to PYM staff. The letter was dated August 1, 2020.
This has been a year of many unexpected events. It was February when we first discussed if the emerging pandemic would impact planned gatherings for PYM. By March it was clear that things were going to be very different for annual sessions and a residential meeting was not an option.
The PYM staff went into high creative mode to re-imagine annual sessions using all the tools and media available to them. The result is what we’ve been experiencing together for the last 2 months: a wonderful series of speakers, worship sharing, small group discussions, pre-recorded panel discussions, large
gatherings, affinity groups, and of course, meeting for worship with attention to the business of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. They helped us be in community and true to the theme, “Let Ourselves be Known.”
The clerks group recognizes and thanks the PYM staff for their extraordinary work under very fluid circumstances to create a vibrant, nourishing, and energizing annual event. Our community is grateful for your planning, flexibility, good humor, and openness to the leading of the spirit.
With gratitude for your gifts,
The clerks group
