The Quaker Indigenous Boarding Schools: Toward Accountability and Healing
February 8 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Quaker Indigenous Boarding School Research Network (QIBS) is offering this 4-hour workshop to share their research on the 30 Indian boarding schools that Quakers operated between 1796 and 1965. They will narrate a one-hour slide presentation, followed by time for reflection and discussion.
Then members of New England Yearly Meeting, Baltimore Yearly Meeting, and Alaska Friends Conference will talk about actions they have taken, including apology, accountability, and reparations. Discussion will center on ways Friends can build relationships with Native communities today, based on truth, respect, and justice.
Saturday, February 8, 1-5 pm ET; noon-4pm CT; 11am-3pm MT; 10am-2pm PT.
