John Woolman, Man of Peace
March 10 @ 10:00 am
Charles Bruder, of the John Woolman Memorial, will share stories of John Woolman, an eighteenth century Quaker, man of peace and disciple of Christ. Woolman is best known for his life long dedication to the abolition of slavery and for his spiritual autobiography, The Journal of John Woolman. He lived in nearby Mt. Holly, N.J., and frequently traveled in the ministry with Joshua Evans, a Marlton Friend from one of the families that went on to found Cropwell Meeting.
Woolman’s Journal was published in 1774, two years after his death, and has remained in print for the past 247 years. The Journal is included in volume one of The Harvard Classics; along with William Penn’s Fruits of Solitude and Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography.
