Quaker principles lead us to care about the immigrants in our communities. That care led Philadelphia Yearly Meeting to join litigation against the Department of Homeland Security and to collaborate with local organizations, including HIAS Pennsylvania, on a recent community meeting at Friends Center in response to increased Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity.
HIAS Pennsylvania is now leading an informational event about the ICE raids happening across the country.
The news has been widespread. Immigrants across the United States, regardless of their immigration status, are being detained by ICE. The situation is so serious that many are afraid to leave their homes to go to work, attend school, or buy groceries.
How can you help?
Join HIAS Pennsylvania on Thursday, April 10th at 7:00 PM on Zoom, for an important update about ICE raids happening in our area and nationwide.
HIAS Pennsylvania’s Director of Legal Services, Philippe Weisz, will discuss how ICE raids are affecting immigrants in our community, and what you can do to support your immigrant neighbors.
This update is part of a series of monthly programs with members of HIAS PA’s staff. The programs will address the current challenges that immigrants are facing due to ongoing policy changes and what you can do to help.
