Grief, Loss & Bereavement: A pastoral care Thread Gathering

Friends are invited to join for a day of sharing, learning, and working together on the topic of pastoral care, focused on grief. In the morning, we will explore the ways monthly meetings address pastoral care needs, with small group discussions and chances for Friends to share joys and struggles. In the afternoon, there will be workshops that address grief and loss throughout the lifespan and beyond the personal. This may include the loss of a loved one, grief about global wars or climate change, or a personal experience of loss that might be a leading ready for witness.
Friends are encouraged to join if you are currently serving in a pastoral care role in your meeting, feel led to explore experiences of grief in community, or if you feel a calling to offer pastoral care in these times.

This thread gathering is an in-person only gathering. Because of the tender nature of the material, and the highly interactive nature of the structure, this gathering will not be recorded.
Need help getting there? If you have concerns about the cost of travel or need help coordinating logistics, reach out to Sessions and Events coordinator, Tara Rubinstein. We will make every effort to ensure that Friends who want to attend are able to do so.
We hope Friends who are not able to join in person this time will mark their calendars for Fall Continuing Sessions, which will be a hybrid program with a focus on the theme “Called to Healing.”

- Sound and Silence Grief Circle (for Grief of All Kinds) – with Rev. Rhetta Morgan
2:30 – 4:00 Closing reflection and worship

PYM will provide coffee, tea and snacks throughout the day. Please plan to bring your own packed lunch.
Location Details
The Grief, Loss and Pastoral Care thread gathering will be hosted at the beautiful sanctuary that is Chestnut Hill Meeting. Free parking is available in the lot. Chestnut Hill meets standards for ADA accessibility.
