220th Anniversary of Arch Street Meeting House

FreeOn Sunday, October 27th, 2024, join Arch Street Meeting House Preservation Trust, Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting, and the Monthly Meeting of Friends of Philadelphia to celebrate the meetinghouse’s 220th Anniversary!
Located in the heart of Old City, Philadelphia, Arch Street Meeting House (ASMH) is a National Historic Landmark, and has been a vibrant hub for both Quakers and visitors alike for over two centuries. Now it’s time to celebrate the museum’s once-in-a-lifetime milestone… and you’re invited!
At 10:30 am, all are welcome to join the Monthly Meeting of Friends of Philadelphia for worship in ASMH’s historic West Room (1811).
Ongoing activities throughout the day include:
- Live Historic Interpreter, William Penn – Meet the legendary Quaker founder of Pennsylvania and hear his chilling tale of the witch of Ridley Creek, Pennsylvania’s only witch trial;
- Pumpkin Carving and kid-friendly crafts
- Guided tours of the meetinghouse and burial ground – Discover the history of ASMH’s 20,000 burials and the importance of its iconic Georgian architecture in Philadelphia’s cultural heritage.
- FREE museum admission – Explore Quaker’s impact on the shaping of Pennsylvania and beyond by exploring the East Room exhibition gallery and the historically preserved 1811 worship space.
