Quaker Self Portrait: West Chester Meeting
Friends gathered at West Chester Meeting on November 10 for “Community Sunday.” Friends of all ages in our meeting — and guests from West Chester Friends School, the Hickman, Goshen Friends School, Goshen Meeting, Downingtown Meeting, and our Concord Quarter Coordinator, Lynne Piersol — joined for a semi-programmed, multigenerational meeting for worship. We sang, heard a story, and settled into waiting worship together for the rest of the hour; on benches, laps, and a quilt on the floor. Messages were shared about welcome, connection in nature and to one another, and gratitude for being together.

Quaker Self Portrait: Princeton Monthly Meeting
This is the group of Friends who gathered for Meeting for Business this Eleventh month, after a well-attended 11 o’clock worship. Today’s was an abbreviated business meeting so that we could break bread with members of the Princeton Friends School Committee before a clearness committee to help build community between the two bodies. We are so blessed to have such a faithful group of Friends willing to spend important time nurturing our community in this way.

Quaker Self Portrait: Green Street Meeting
We are a vibrant, caring community, rich in diversity and Spirit. This snapshot — of just some of our members and attenders — is a great example of the joy we feel being in fellowship together. #GreenStreetRocks

Quaker Self Portrait: Appoquinimink Preparative Meeting
Appoquinimink preparative meeting Participated in the PYM Quaker Self Portrait project by sharing this snapshot. It is an ancient and tiny meeting that worships together on the first and third first days each month. The photo features the clerk, outside the meetinghouse with the tree planted recently in memory of her son.
All PYM meetings and other groups are encouraged to be part of showing who we are. Take a selfie, write a poem, tell a story… whatever way you want to express yourself. See how to share it at www.pym.org/census

PA Historical Marker to Acknowledge Quaker Abolitionist
Jack Schick, clerk of Richland Friends first discovered the legacy of Quaker Abolitionist Richard Moore while doing research for the meeting’s tricentennial commemoration in 2010.
While he knew the history of Quakertown (PA) Friends involvement in the Underground Railroad, it was only while searching the annals in the Richland Library Company, a research facility founded by Friends, that he discovered the full story of Richard Moore. Haverford College Quaker & Special Collections re-opening!
Quaker & Special Collections at Haverford College will reopen September 3, 2019 after the completion of a renovation project. This 18 month project transformed Haverford’s Lutnick library, preserving historic portions of the building while adding brand-new spaces. Quaker & Special Collections will reopen with a new reading room, which provides easy access to curatorial staff; a classroom with 30 seats and flexible furniture to allow for a wide variety of teaching activities; processing space; an exhibit gallery; a conservation lab; and climate-controlled secure stacks. These new spaces will allow for the growth and expansion of Quaker & Special Collections programming, including extensive engagement with classes across the curriculum, student-curated exhibits, and research fellowships. 2019 Annual Sessions – Children’s Epistle
To Friends Everywhere,
We need to raise our voices when things are not right.
You have to know when things are not right..
This week Ollie tried to chase a chicken at Snipes Farm.
We watched Mulan for movie night.
We went to game night with Middle School Friends.
We played on a slip and slide, and always have friendship.
We also took pictures of our week, and here they are.
In Peace,
PYM Children
PS – It was also really fun break dancing with pushed learning!
(Thank Edy and Megan!)
2019 Annual Sessions – Middle School Friends Epistle
ERICA: Dear Friends Everywhere, We are the Middle School Friends of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.
We gathered at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, New Jersey from July 24th to July 28th, 2019 for Annual Sessions. We grew as a community and expanded our knowledge by learning about the LGBTQIA+ and people of color communities. We learned about microaggressions and how to work as a community by talking about our disagreements and vulnerabilities with Pushed Learning Media.
