A ministry of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting is to keep the body interconnected, and the virtual tools available allow Friends to share their messages and connect faster. PYM staff are finding and providing new resources across the yearly meeting community to help keep connected. Friends no longer have to wait for an event or session; they will be able to connect anytime and anywhere, and PYM is looking for participants to provide input on an online platform.
Launching in January of 2025, PYM is sharing a new online community platform. PYM Connect is a secure and supportive virtual platform to discuss, engage, and grow with PYM Friends. It is designed to allow participants to share exciting news and updates and fellowship with other Friends within PYM who share the same ministries and leadings.
Here are a few of the opportunities on PYM Connect:
- Discuss in Groups: PYM Connect offers a virtual space to deepen connections within specific Communities of Practice in a collaborative environment that is safe and welcoming.
- Engage Quaker-to-Quaker: Become part of a supportive network of Friends across various monthly meetings within PYM.
- Grow, Learn, and Share: Share personal content and interact with Friends as they share their own leadings and ministries, fostering a community of encouragement and mutual support.
This platform will be accessible to all Friends within PYM, so do not be afraid to try it out. Friends are encouraged to ask questions about leadings, tell the community about a worship group you’re part of, share an interesting article, or promote a protest you plan to attend.
Think of PYM Connect as a new tool for you and your local meeting. Instead of reaching out to just one or two Friends, you can pose your questions or share your thoughts with a broader community of Quakers. It opens up the opportunity to receive support, insights, and suggestions from multiple perspectives, from different meetings, and continuing your connections across PYM.
We hope that, as activity increases, PYM Connect will be a useful tool for PYM to learn from each other and collaborate in the shared spirit of care and fellowship.
