Make space for our youth to thrive and their voices to lead
Recently Sessions Coordinating Committee found joy and fulfillment! Here’s how:
- Nearly 40 kids are at Sessions this year, including 9 babies and preschoolers
This is a current or upcoming project or interesting thing the committee is working on:
- Exploring how to build Quaker youth programming and community in the places where the youth already are.
People who participate in this committee can learn and grow in this way:
- You get direct contact with youth and what is important to them – it will change your view of the world.
This committee functions at its best when there are people serving on it who have these skills or experiences:
- Youth empowerment
- Encountering and creating space where exponential diversity is welcome
- Child and youth development
- Developing programs and resources
The realistic time commitment of members of this committee includes:
- The committee meets as needed, only several times per year
- Volunteer as led to be a Friendly Presence at youth programs
Membership:
- Members of committees are appointed by the council they serve. Youth Programs Advisory Committee is under Quaker Life Council
- Ideally the committee has 11 members; the committee currently has nine.
Charge:
The Youth Programs Advisory Committee sets the overall direction of PYM youth programs under the guidance of the vision and mission.
