Philadelphia Yearly Meeting’s Annual Sessions will take place from Wednesday, July 23 – Sunday, July 27 at Cheyney University’s campus, offering a space for Friends to worship in community and practice our faith. The theme of sessions, Members One of Another, reminds us that our faith is not just about the places we meet, but the relationships we build, nourish, and support.
The question “How are we called to create safe space for people affected by the changes in our nation?” was included on the agenda for Spring Continuing Sessions, but time did not allow for it to be addressed. This topic will now be taken up as an item at Annual Sessions.
It will be explored through four areas:
- Direct action
- Building relationships
- Advocacy with elected officials
- Education
Meetings will be encouraged to begin engaging with these approaches in the months leading up to Sessions. The ad hoc planning group is continuing to shape how this work will be included in the Annual Sessions agenda.
Thinking of the future, when you picture an opportunity to come together with Friends, What is exciting? What makes you want to be there? Friends are encouraged to complete this survey. Your participation helps us plan the future of sessions together.
Registration for Annual Sessions will open in the coming weeks, for more information on Annual Sessions, please contact Tara Rubinstein, at trubinstein@pym.org or at (215) 241-7228.
