At yesterday’s Meeting for Business, Wrightstown Meeting approved the minute below. We welcome you to post it on the PYM website and in other PYM communications.
Wrightstown Monthly Meeting in Wrightstown, PA stands in unity with Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and all other meetings that have joined in a lawsuit against the US Department of Homeland Security in response to the Trump administration rescinding a policy that prohibits ICE from raiding meetings and other places of worship. We see the new policy as a violation of the US Constitution’s guarantee of the free exercise of religion.
We fully endorse the lawsuit, including its request that the Court “declare unconstitutional any policy permitting government agents to carry out immigration enforcement at or near houses of worship.” We affirm that PYM has acted on our behalf, and we are grateful for its speed and clarity in taking this action.
