Up Close And Personal - Allison Richards
by Laura Drew Kelly
A birthright and a convinced Quaker, Allison Richards lives in a warm, welcoming house that is reached by a long driveway flanked on one side by a split rail fence behind which graze several horses. As we climbed the stairs to the office in progress, which Allison plans to make a workplace for her Quaker duties and her crafts, I was intrigued by the family tree of photos in the upstairs hallway. These provide a rich sense of Richards' history and a wonderful background to learning more about Allison.

Friendly Fuels Camden Style
by Nona McNatt
When I think of the archetypical "fossil fuel saver", my mind wanders across the Meeting room to Roger Allen, whose bicycle is parked outside, with his helmet resting on the handle-bars. I've wondered what was behind Roger's affinity for biking, so I gave him a call.

Friends Gather for Dinner to Celebrate Bicentennial
By Mike Richards
Friends gathered for a potluck dinner to celebrate the Bicentennial of Camden Friends Meeting Tenth Month: 22nd (2005) beginning at 6 o'clock in the evening. There were 54 people present - all of whom contributed to the wonderful and plentiful variety of food we had. For desert: Paul Bender even made vanilla and strawberry ice cream (a BIG hit) - and our former member, Faith Jenkins Hidell, made delicious chocolate sauce, which disappeared quickly.
Camden Begins Bicentennial Year
A year of celebration was recently begun in honor of two centuries of faith and fellowship in Camden, Delaware when Quarterly Meeting was held at Camden Meeting on the 3rd Sunday of January. Inspiring heartfelt ministry was shared during worship. Speakers Ken Carroll and Michael Richards gave engaging talks on the history of Quakers on Delmarva and in the local community. The pioneering spirit of early Friends helps invigorate our current witness.
Demonstration For Peace Held At Camden Meeting
On March 14th, 2004, Camden Friends Meeting was the starting point for demonstrations marking the first year of the invasion and occupation of Iraq. The Dover-to-DC Processional was conceived to address a number of issues about the war. The predominant concerns were for the families of American service people. About twenty organizations including the American Friends Service Committee, Pacem In Terris, Military Families Speak Out, and Veterans For Peace, were looking for a forum to bring more attention to the number of dead and wounded. The event was inspirational and well received by the press.
