PYM FCNL Network

The Charge:
We are called to witness on national public policy in collaboration with Friends Committee on National Legislation, the largest peace lobby on Capitol Hill to work for peace, justice and an earth restored.

Our Work:
The Network Coordinating Group initiates communication with FCNL’s MM Contacts and all other interested Friends to facilitate PYM action in support of FCNL’s witness on national legislation. We arrange visits to monthly meetings by Network members to discuss FCNL’s mission and policies. Current projects include:
- Climate Action packets to support national legislation to limit U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, and a strong U.S. role in the upcoming international negotiations in Copenhagen.
- Specific legislative initiatives to ban the production and use of cluster bombs, work for a comprehensive peace plan in the Middle East and reaffirm the comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty.
- Participation in FCNL’s Legislative Priorities Process in the winter and spring of 2010.
The Opportunity:
Join the FCNL Network and receive the Coordinating Group’s e-mail communications.
- Be an FCNL MM contact, or assist your MM’s contact.
- Sign up for FCNL’s weekly Legislative Action Alerts or for their special Interest Action alerts.
- Attend the FCNL Annual Meeting in November, its Lobbying Weekend in April and/or its special lobbying events as they are identified.
- Join the Network Coordinating Group. We meet by conference phone call 5 times a year and “face to face” once a year at FCNL’s annual meeting in November.
