our members and their Meetings in the proper conduct of their spiritual
and temporal lives. In accordance with this leading, we accept responsibility
for those functions currently assigned to us. We will advise, support and
evaluate the programs and projects created by these functions. |

Prayer Vigil for Peace at Independence Mall
PYM NEWS: Friends continue to gather at Independence Mall in Philadelphia to pray for peace every Sunday from 4 to 5 pm. We stand on Market Street, between 5th and 6th Streets, usually on the north side of the street.

November 3 Gathering for Extended Worship
PYM NEWS: The fall gathering on Worship, Ministry, and Eldering will take place Saturday, November 3, from 9:30 am to 4 pm at Chester River Meeting (MD), with the entire morning given to unprogrammed worship.

Counseling Service Offers Social Work Help
PYM NEWS: Friends Counseling Service has received a grant from the Bequests Committee to provide social work support to Meetings struggling to care for members with difficult long-term needs and few resources.

Racial Justice & Equality among Friends
PYM NEWS: When one mentions “racism” to Friends, one may hear a response reflecting on the presence of racism inside as well as outside our Religious Society. One might also hear: “Why are we talking about that?” “Quakers did so much; why are we worried about it?”
